Abstract / Excerpt:
Student Evaluation is important in Universities during enrollment period to determine the status of each student. Normally, the evaluation phase is done manually by the faculty and staff of the university. Students have to wait for the faculty to finish their evaluation so that they can proceed with their enrollment. The evaluators will have to consider a lot of factors in order to evaluate one student. Each factor is vital to the completion of the evaluation of the student. Using Decision Trees, a type of Data Mining model, will decrease the time allotted for the evaluation phase. The University Database holds information of each student, which is to be examined by the evaluator. The proposed system will gather the needed information from the database and integrate them into different attributes, which will be used by the Data Mining System. The system will produce the status of the student, which will determine of the student is able to enroll, or able to take subjects which have prerequisites. The system will make the evaluation phase faster as well as produce results more accurate and fair. This project will benefit both the staff and the students involved.
