Developing a Hybrid Detection and Termination Strategy Against Backdoor Intrusions in Linux-Based Server Systems

Abstract / Excerpt:

With the advent of the new millennium, the computerization of business processes has become rampant. Information has become the heart of all trades. Alongside with the so-called computerization, well-developed computer networks (LAN's and WAN's) have become major factors in industries here and abroad not to mention the continually expanding information superhighway (World Wide Web). These have become the very tools for communicating and information exchange. With all these upgrades and changes, data security also became a major issue. Backdoor intrusions have become prevalent consequently leading to the establishment of backdoor detection systems. However, not one BDS is considered foolproof and adequate thus implying the need for a better solution. This study discusses the development of hybrid detection and termination strategy against backdoor intrusions in Linux based server systems. Relatively, this study will also deal with effective backdoor detection concepts and the different approaches in developing an effective solution to backdoor intrusions.
