Developing a File Manager for the Android Powered Phone Using Cloud Computing As Extension or Alternate Storage

Abstract / Excerpt:

Android Powered Phones is popular nowadays because it was able to offer something new to the society like the free applications and a much more convenient environment. Along with its uniqueness from other software, it also has its glitches. Android has a need for alternative memory storage because it is somewhat low in space and it is made known that Android lacks a recycle bin and that is mainly what this study is all about. In this study, the proponents developed a Recycle bin Application with Compression/ Decompression that could interface with a Cloud Storage specifically Dropbox with Encryption/ Decryption. The proponents were able to make use of SQLite and the Android SDK through Eclipse IDE to complete this project. This study was successful for it was able to create an application that could compress a deleted file and decompress it when restored. The deleted file can also be stored in cloud. A file can also be encrypted and transferred to cloud for temporary storage.
