Developing a Clustering Software Solution on Mirrored Servers as an Approach to Maximize Bandwidth Utilization

Abstract / Excerpt:

The main problem of this thesis is how to develop a clustering software on mirrored servers that could utilize the available bandwidth efficiently.

The client-server clustering software on mirrored server was able to maximize utilization of a network through deviating from the current implementation of the FTP/HTTP protocols, making the mirrored servers communicate in order for these server to distribute loads evenly so that imbalance of load distribution is reduced.

There are few recommendations for the enhancement of these solution: one is to improve its algorithm and consider making the shortest path get most of the load; second is to implement it under HTTP; and third is to include fault-tolerance as one of its features.
